STUDENT SUPERVISOR

 

 

The Student Supervisor should seek to know and understand each student in the College, try to assist and guide the personal development and welfare of each student in keeping with the ethos of the College, at all times keeping in mind the long term educational and developmental aims of Gurteen.

 

 

Reporting to      -    The Bursar

 

 

 

Duties

 

Without prejudice to the generality of the foregoing, the Student Supervisor shall:

 

  • Be responsible for the implementation of the College Code of Conduct and the welfare of each student.

 

  • Ensure adherence to Fire and Health & Safety Requirements per Safety Statement.

 

  • Co-ordinate student extra curricular activities i.e. trips and tours, sports and activities. (Liasing with the sports coordinator and contacts in other colleges)

 

  • Liaise and inform the Principal, Bursar, Hospitality Coordinator and other supervisory staff on all issues pertaining to student welfare and discipline.

 

  • Ensure that the college campus and farmyard are not abused or damaged.

 

  • Ensure that buildings are locked at the appropriate time.

 

  • Where necessary organise sick / holiday cover, and supervisory staff for special activities or trips.

 

  • Maintain such Student Records as to support disciplinary requirements.

 

  • Outside of term time while not on holidays the student supervisor may be required to work in another department, if the post is not on a term time contract basis.

Terms & Conditions

 

Salary                         €19,000 pro rata per year   (Payable monthly)

Meals provided in college canteen.

VHI Group Scheme available.

 

On Site                       5.30pm until 8.00am. of the next morning.

                                 (Sunday evening to Friday Morning)

 

Note:  There shall be infrequent activities and administration, which shall have to take place outside of the above hours i.e. disciplinary reviews, matches, open days, social activities etc.

 

Paid Holidays             24 days (per year) to be taken outside of term time.  In the event of                                    an academic year contract, 2 days for each month worked.

 

Probation                   10 months from date of commencement.

 

Sick Leave            Management should be notified as soon as possible – a doctor’s certificate is required if sick period exceeds two days.

 

Notice of cessation required  Minimum one month.

 

General                       A Minibus driving licence and an interest in Sports / Leisure                                               activities would be useful.

 

Also a recognised First Aid qualification.

(Training is available)

 

Reference from local Garda may be required.
