General:

This one-year full-time course adds practical work experience and management training on to the knowledge gained at FETAC Level 5.

 

Course content:

12 weeks of practical training on an approved host farm or in related industry.

12 months work experience on the home farm.

6 weeks block-release courses at Gurteen College, including proficiency tests and discussion groups.

 

Progression and career opportunities:

Advanced Certificate in Farm Management

Travel and farm in countries such as Australia, New Zealand or America (students are encouraged to gain experience abroad)

Full-time or part-time farming

Agri-business

 

This course is part of the qualification needed for:

Stamp Duty Relief

Installation Aid

Higher rates of Grant Aid

Easier access to Quotas

Early Retirement Scheme

Stock Relief

 

Entry requirements:

Students must have completed Certificate in Agriculture Level 5
