Bachelor of Business in Equine Studies

 

Accredited by HETAC: NFQ Level 7

General:

This Ordinary Bachelor Degree is offered jointly by Gurteen College and Athlone Institute of Technology, which confers the Degree.

It is a one-year add-on course designed for holders of the Higher Certificate in Business in Equine Studies or equivalent qualifications.

 

Location:

The course is based in Gurteen College, with one day per week at Athlone Institute of Technology

Students can be accommodated in Gurteen College or arrange lodgings locally.

Students may keep their own horses at the College (some conditions and charges apply).

Students are not required to bring horses, as the College can supply all horses needed.

Applied Equine Science

Equine Coaching and Instruction

International Marketing and Sales Management

Enterprise Development and Management

Managerial Finance

Work placement (8 weeks)

Honours Bachelors degrees (Level 8) in business and equine business

Yard and stud farm management

Riding centres

Competition yards

Equine tourism & leisure

Equine administration

Marketing of horses and equine-related products

Bloodstock transportation

Equine insurance

General business

Residential Student (including full board and single room) €4300

Residential Student (including full board and shared room- limited availability) €3500

Day Student (including lunch) €1300

Day student (without meals) €400

Student Services Fee (€1500 approx.) may be payable to Athlone Institute of Technology.

Means-tested TLT grants are available to Irish and E.U. students: apply to your local Vocational Education Committee.
