This one-year full-time course equips students with the husbandry and management skills to run a successful drystock enterprise. It also prepares graduates for further training in farm management, farm work abroad and careers in agri-industry. The course has a high practical content.

Progression and career opportunities:

Students who achieve Merit or Distinction in this course are eligible to apply to Waterford Institute of Technology for direct entry to year 2 of the Higher Certificate in Agriculture.

Travel and farm in countries such as Australia, New Zealand or America (students are encouraged to gain experience abroad)

Full-time or part-time farming

This certificate is part of the qualification needed for:

Early Retirement Scheme (currently suspended)

Stamp Duty relief

Installation Aid (currently suspended)

Higher rates of grant aid
